Should You Have Your Hearing Tested?

Hearing loss is a very common occurrence, especially for older adults. Since hearing loss is a process that usually happens very gradually, sometimes it can be hard to notice when you are starting to have problems with your own hearing. Early detection is very valuable for hearing loss, since it allows you to take steps to hear better as well as prevent further hearing loss from occurring. But how do you know when it is time for a hearing test?

One indicator is if you begin to exhibit any of the signs and symptoms of hearing loss, such as often asking people to repeat themselves, having trouble understanding words and phrases, feeling like sounds are generally muffled, and constantly feeling like you have to turn up the radio or television in order to hear it. Sometimes your friends and family may notice some of these signs and symptoms in your behavior before you ever realize it yourself. Even if you are young or middle-aged, if someone close to you suspects you may have hearing loss, it is best to go ahead and have your hearing tested.
