Insanity Workout Plan of Action and Calendar

Insanity, a product of Beachbody LLC, is a 60 day training program designed to help you get into shape quickly. The Insanity program uses high-intensity cardiovascular training in combination with strength training.

A part of the standard Insanity starting package is a calendar showing you which days you are to perform which activities and exercises. Every week of the program consists of six days of workout followed by one day of rest. Every week is not the same as the routines change from week to week, but each week will consist of at least three upper-level intensity days as well as two days that are less intense. Each workout takes somewhere between 30 to 60 minutes, and that includes five minutes of warm-up and cooldown. Although the order of the exercises changes, the movements you will use within them does not – at least not for the first four weeks.

After the first four weeks, you will start what is called a recovery week. During this week you will do “Core Cardio and Balance.” Following the week of recovery, the exercise regime will change again. However, you will continue the program of six days of activity followed by one of rest.

The second half of the program, month two, is designed to be more intensive than the first. The first month is designed to help you prepare your body to endure what will happen during the second month. The cornerstone of Insanity is max interval training which means that instead of doing an exercise, letting your body relax, then exercising some more, you exert maximum energy during a specific exercise so that it never comes to a rest. This helps to keep pushing the body’s physical limit which causes your body to adapt and create new, higher limits. That's not to say there are no breaks within the workouts. They are present, but smaller.

While so much of the marketing around the Insanity program focuses specifically on the workout, the nutrition plan provided in the Insanity package is equally important if you want to achieve the advertised results. Much like the workout calendar, there is a meal plan calendar that includes menu items and recipes that will help create the best results as well as provide your body with the necessary energy to complete the program.

As with any workout program, it is critical that you give your best every day. The results will be dependent on your dedication and effort. If you choose to not give it your all and only participate half-heartedly, then you will only get half of the results.
