Are Low T Supplements Worth the Money?

Testosterone is a sex hormone that is responsible for the development of male sex organs. It also affects male physical traits such as facial hair, broad shoulders, and dense muscle development.

Sexual arousal is linked to a rise in testosterone. Levels of testosterone rise and fall throughout your life, but start to decline after the age of 30. This means as men age they can lose interest in sex and find it more difficult to experience an erection.

Low T Supplements

Testosterone supplements can be beneficial for treating hypogonadism, which is a condition that develops when the body does not produce a sufficient amount of testosterone naturally. It is still uncertain, however, if supplements are a good idea for healthy men. Research indicates that there is no reason for men 65 and over with normal or low-to-normal testosterone levels to take supplements.

Supplement Risks

Testosterone supplements might actually put you at risk for more problems. Studies have found that men of all ages, even those who are heart-healthy, have an increased risk for heart problems, such as heart attack when taking supplements.

Identified complications of testosterone supplements can also include:

  • Sleep apnea
  • Acne breakouts
  • Enlarged breasts
  • Testicular shrinkage

Taking supplements may not be worth your money after all, but if you are undecided talk further with your doctor before using them.
