Overview of the Insanity Workout Program

Insanity Overview

Insanity, a product by Team Beach Body, is a high-intensity fitness program led by Shaun T that is designed for people wanting to lose weight or reduce their body fat. This exercise program is done in a boot camp circuit style which is intended to produce maximum results. Based on a concept known as max interval training, the Insanity program keeps the body working at its maximum level. Max interval training requires you to exert maximum energy during exercise intervals. For instance, you might do 20 seconds as hard as you can and take a 10 second break to recover, and then do it all over again. The intervals, the work period, and the rest period, will all vary. Insanity employs this technique as it is known to quickly and dramatically speed up the body's metabolism.

The Insanity program is heavily focused on cardio exercises that lend themselves to this type of interval training. This means that the program is intended for those who are already physically active with strong aerobic conditioning. Those who have physical issues, such as obesity or cardiovascular disease, should start off with another program prior to attempting Insanity. Since this is high-intensity training, the length of the workouts is shorter, 45-60 min, than the normal at-home workout, which can average 60 minutes or more. Unlike some other at home programs, Insanity does not use weights or resistance bands; all you need is enough space to do the exercises. This can make it particularly appealing for people who travel as they can perform the training anywhere they go. However, since the only resistance is your own body weight, participants should realize that building muscle is not a primary goal of the program. The aim, instead, is slimming down and toning up.

Many of the moves that are a part of Insanity are based off four primary moves: Jumps, Squats, Planks, and C-Sits. Although there are only four basic moves, the amount of diversity that comes from them within the program is substantial. This diversity is complimented by the fact that each week offers variety in your routine.

Every other week you will do a fitness test. The fitness test is less a test and much more a measure of how far you have come and helps to reinforce all of the hard work by showing the progress you have made in the last two weeks. This is not an easy program so many participants find that doing the fitness tests actually help them maintain progress throughout the program. When hard work equals measurable results it is much easier to stay a fitness program.

The calendar helps you stay on track throughout the program by providing you a strict workout schedule to follow as well as a look at what is to come. The nutrition guide and meal plans also play a very important role in the program. They provide you recipes, full meal plans, and general nutritional guidance to compliment the overall workout program. Not only does the nutritional component of the program help to make sure that you are eating healthy, but following it also ensures you are providing your body with the fuel needed to get through each workout.

The Insanity package provides all of the tools necessary to succeed in reducing body weight and losing fat loss. The only thing not provided is the dedication needed, but if you are spending $120 on this program, there is at least motivation to get your money’s worth from the program. As long as you work hard every day and follow the nutritional guide provided, there is no reason why you can’t see your own impressive sixty day results from this heavily advertised program.
