Natural Earache Relief

Earaches are common, especially among children. Although earaches usually go away on their own, they can be painful and irritating. We have identified some natural ways to relieve an annoying earache.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil works great for getting rid of pain, improving circulation, and treating an ear infection.

  • Mix a few drops of tea tree oil into a few drops of olive oil.
  • Gently massage the oil mixture to the outside of the aching ear as needed throughout the day.

Radish

Radish can help sooth a bad earache.

  • Chop up radish and heat it in mustard oil.
  • Cool the mixture, then strain.
  • Put a few drops of the oil mixture into the aching ear.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is known for providing quick relief from an earache. The oil not only acts as a lubricant, but can also get rid of the infection causing the earache.

  • Use 3-4 drops of lukewarm olive oil as ear drops.
  • You can also dip a cotton swab in olive oil and then rub it in your ear.

Garlic

If your earache is due to an ear infection, the analgesic and antibiotic properties of garlic can offer you some relief.

  • Heat one teaspoon of minced garlic and two tablespoons of sesame oil. After heating, cool and filter the oil. Use 2-3 drops of the oil mixture in the infected ear.
  • You can also extract the juice from a few cloves of garlic and put it in the ear that is causing you pain.

Basil

Basil is great to use for irritating earaches because of its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.

  • Crush up a few basil leaves and extract the juice.
  • Put 3 or 4 drops of the extracted basil juice in the affected ear.
  • Repeat 1 or 2 times a day.

Ginger

Earaches can be relieved with ginger because of its strong anti-inflammatory properties. It’s also a great natural painkiller.

  • Mix one teaspoon of fresh grated ginger root with two tablespoons of olive oil. Let the mixture infuse for 5-10 minutes and then use a few drops of the oil in the aching ear.
  • Or put juice that has been extracted from fresh ginger directly in the ear(s) to relieve pain and reduce inflammation.

Peppermint

Peppermint leaves and peppermint oil can both be used to relieve earaches.

  • Extract juice from fresh peppermint leaves. Put 3-4 drops into the affected ear.
  • Or you can use a cotton swab dipped in peppermint oil. Rub the swab around the opening of your ear, but do not insert the swab or oil in your ear.
  • You can also dilute the peppermint oil with olive oil and then apply.

Onion

Onion is a natural antiseptic that can cure earache easily.

  • Grate an onion and extract the juice.
  • Put 2-3 drops of the juice into the aching ear at least 2-3 times a day.
