These bracelets have sold like crazy since, largely due to false advertising. Studies have been conducted in the last decade that have proven that these bracelets do absolutely nothing.

Toothpaste is squaring off against acne, and this actually works. Your acne will disappear! Along with your skin’s health because, wow, acne is toothpaste is bad for your skin. The baking soda in acne is what works, so try something with that or more traditional acne products. Leave the toothpaste for your teeth.

It’s fun to imagine where these ridiculous cure-alls originated. We like to think someone was walked in on while stuffing their mouth with marshmallows. When they were caught like a deer in headlights, they said something along the lines of, “My throat ith thore.” Then the rumor spread, marshmallows cure sore throats. There’s no evidence proving this, but stuff your face anyway.

Search the internet and you’ll find a lot of people spouting off this home-remedy that conveniently cures infection without any claims as to how. If you mix bread with milk, then spread the soggy mess on your boils, they will go away. Fun fact: they won’t. In fact, some people are even told by their doctors not to because it could make the infection worse. They claim it’s worked before, but there’s no proof whether it’s the poultice or the body doing what it does best.

Like garlic, people think that powering through onions will solve all of their problems. Immediately. This is a lie. For example, people used to think that putting diced onions in a bowl or, oh gosh, their socks would help purify their blood and the air in the room. Why? This might be something you grew up with. You get burned and slap some flour on it. This was backed by science at one point, but that was a century and a half ago. That science was disproven, though, and now we know that flour does nothing but increase your risk of an infection.

We’re not sure how this came about, but if you stick a silver coin in a hard-boiled egg, it will cure all of your bruises and black eyes. We’re not sure who thought sticking money in their food would help their bruises, but just like we said above, coins are gross. They go to a lot of gross places with a lot of gross people. There’s absolutely no reason you should be putting this on any injuries.

Some people have turned to the yellow flower St. John’s Wort, but the results are a bit disappointing. Dozens of studies have collectively concluded that the plant works largely as a placebo.
