Plantar warts are annoying, unappealing, and sometimes painful. What makes them worse? They’re not easy to get rid of.
If you’re lucky, the growth will go away on its’ own. However, most people refuse to play the waiting game. Expensive surgeries and over-the-counter medicines are an option but aren’t guaranteed to work. A home remedy can be the cheapest and easiest way to treat your wart.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar has so many uses that this remedy should come at no surprise. In two weeks or less, your plantar wart should be long gone.
For this method you’ll need: raw apple cider vinegar, cotton balls, and bandages. Before going to bed each night, saturate a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar. Press the soaked cotton ball against the plantar wart and hold it in place with a bandage.
Be prepared to experience some slight stinging and pain. The process should be repeated for a week or two until the wart has fallen off. It’s recommended to continue the treatment for a few days after the wart is gone to make sure it doesn’t grow back.
Duct Tape
Duct tape is another popular home remedy to get rid of a wart.
First, you’ll need to soak your foot in warm water for 5-10 minutes. Remove your foot from the soak, and gently exfoliate the dead skin surrounding the wart. After drying off, apply a strip of silver duct tape to your plantar wart. The tape should be left on all day.
Once the tape is removed, the wart should be left exposed for 12 hours. Repeat the process for 6 days until the wart is gone. If the first round of treatment doesn’t work, repeat the remedy once a month until the wart goes away.
Banana Peels
This method is so simple it’s almost hard to believe it works. The potassium in a banana peel is said to be extremely effective against fighting warts.
For this method you’ll need a banana peel. When it comes to how it’s applied you have two choices: cut and apply the peel, or make a mash from the peel. Either technique should give you similar results.
For the first method, cut a piece of the banana peel and apply it directly to the wart. A bandage can be used to hold it in place. To make a paste, scrape the inside of the peel until you have enough mash to cover the wart on your foot. Apply the mash straight to the wart and let it sit there until it dries. The process should be repeated every night for two weeks or until the wart is gone.
